SOW – Iron and Fire transformed Quinta do Ferro into a laboratory of creation, dialogue, and encounter

The latest edition of Seeds on Wheels, titled SOW Ferro e Fogo — Art · Food · Community · Public Space, came to an end leaving a message of collaboration, creativity and community transformation. Promoted by SOW, ACSA and Provisório, and built side by side with residents of Quinta do Ferro, artists, schools, associations and local partners, the event—which took place on November 1 and 2—once again demonstrated the power of food and art as drivers of social change. Over two days of celebration and action, the Provisório garden, Quinta do Ferro and the parish of São Vicente became a living laboratory of creation, dialogue and encounter.

Numbers that tell stories of collaboration, sharing, and connection between communities and the territory

The event’s reach highlights the strength of collective work. The initiative recorded more than 360 participants over the two days. A total of 280 meals were served free of charge, reinforcing the spirit of sharing and care thanks to the partnership with 31 participating entities, including collectives, startups, schools, neighbours, artists and local projects. The intervention regenerated 100 m² of urban space, spanning facades, cultivation areas and gathering zones, restoring dignity and community use to previously overlooked areas. The event featured 24 programmed activities, including workshops, installations, talks, meals, guided visits and street performances. By occupying multiple community spaces, the event invited the public to walk through the neighbourhood and discover its projects and transformative initiatives up close.

A movement that grows with the community

SOW – Iron and Fire showed that urban regeneration does not need to be a distant or technical process—it can emerge from the table, the street, and the people. Through shared moments, conversations, meals, and ideas, we grew together as a community, and that was the most beautiful part of all. The seeds have been sown, and the ground has been made fertile. The impact extends far beyond the event itself, remaining in the relationships formed, the spaces reactivated, and the strengthened collective awareness of the role of food in building fairer, more sustainable, and more humane cities.
