The Intelligent Territories – Transform Tourism Grant offers support for digital transformation and innovation in the tourism sector. Benefits include funding, capacity building, technical support, networking and visibility. The aim is to improve the experience of tourists, strengthen the competitiveness of businesses and promote the sustainable development of tourism.

Regenerating Territories – Transforming Tourism Line

Tourism Grants

The Intelligent Territories – Transform Tourism Grant offers support for digital transformation and innovation in the tourism sector. Benefits include funding, capacity building, technical support, networking and visibility. The aim is to improve the experience of tourists, strengthen the competitiveness of businesses and promote the sustainable development of tourism.

Incentive Conditions

  • The Smart Territories Line, which is one of the specific lines of the Transform Tourism programme, supports projects with the following typologies:
    • Data capture on the territory and on tourism activity and its conversion into valuable information;
    • Projects promoting the reduction of seasonality and/or territorial dissemination of tourism flows;
    • Projects promoting intelligent mobility in the territory;
    • Projects promoting the evaluation and management of the impact, including the carbon footprint dimension in tourism flows;
    • The implementation of digital-based solutions to contribute to efficient energy, water and waste management and to the decarbonisation of tourism activity.
  • Mainland Portugal, including the autonomous regions of Madeira and Azores.
  • Non-refundable financial support 30% of the value of eligible expenses. May add a surcharge of:
    • 20% Low density territories and cross-border projects;
    • 20% Collective efficiency strategies projects.
  • Maximum limit of financial support is 150 thousand euros.
  • Public entities, including those in whose management central state, regional and local administration entities have a dominant position;
  • Micro, small or medium-sized enterprises, electronically certified at IAPMEI, I. P. portal;
  • Other private entities, namely of associative nature.
  • Infrastructure and technology implementation, including hardware and software acquisition.
  • Acquisition or development of systems and technology platforms enabling the supply of data in open source format, as well as their automated use.
  • Deployment of platforms to increase interaction and collaborative connection.
  • Third-party provision of professional services including technical and scientific assistance and consultancy for the period strictly necessary for the development of the project.
  • Employees training actions for the project’s development and implementation.
  • Intervention of statutory auditors or external certified accountants.
  • Projects that contribute to the goals of the Transform Tourism programme and are supported by technologies and innovation accelerators (Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), 3D printing, new human and digital interfaces, robotics and blockchain).

Projects promoting intelligent mobility in the territory;
Projects promoting the evaluation and management of the impact, including the carbon footprint dimension in tourism flows;
The implementation of digital-based solutions to contribute to efficient energy, water and waste management and to the decarbonisation of tourism activity.
