The aim of this support is to improve the management of hydro-agricultural schemes and to introduction of more efficient technologies. The aim is to increase the energy sustainability of hydro-agricultural developments through the production of energy from renewable sources, namely solar photovoltaic energy, thus contributing to the decarbonization of the sector.

Incentive Conditions

  • Improved management of hydro-agricultural facilities;
  • Introduction of more efficient technologies.
  • Increase the energy sustainability of hydro-agricultural facilities through energy production from renewable sources, namely photovoltaic solar energy;
  • Provide hydro-agricultural facilities with the capacity to produce photovoltaic solar energy to meet their needs;
  • Contribute to the decarbonisation of the sector, by reducing the use of fossil fuels in collective irrigation.
  • Mainland Portugal.
  • 40% non-refundable.
  • Maximum – EUR 500 000.
  • Associations of beneficiaries of a hydro-agricultural development;
  • Farmers’ associations
  • Irrigation cooperatives;
  • Other legal persons whose statutory purpose is to carry out activities related to existing irrigation schemes;
  • Public Administration bodies.
  • Eligible costs are those relating to the purchase and installation of photovoltaic panels, as well as those relating to fixing structures and all accessories needed for the proper functioning of the system.
  • The total eligible cost is determined by multiplying the unit reference cost per watt by the total installed capacity of the photovoltaic panels to be purchased (kWp). The unit reference cost of the watt corresponds to 1.35 euros.
